Keira Knightley

The actress was born in London to the actors Will Knightley and Sharman Macdonald, Knightley obtained an agent at the age of six. She initially worked in commercials and television films. Knightley starred as Sabe, a small part for her in Star Wars: Episode I: The Phantom Menace (1998). Her breakthrough came in the role of a teenage football player in the sports documentary Bend It Like Beckham (2002), and later achieved international fame for her role as Elizabeth Swann in the swashbuckler Fantasy series Pirates of the Caribbean, beginning in 2003. The romantic comedy Love Actually (2003) and was described as a promising teenage star. Knightley won her first Academy Award nod for Best Actress in 2005 for portraying Elizabeth Bennet, the heroine in the classic romance Pride & Prejudice. Knightley acted in numerous other period-themed films, such as Atonement (2007, a love story), The Duchess, (2008) and Anna Karenina, (2012). Also, she appeared as a socialite called Georgiana on the film The Duchess. Her involvement in modern dramas, appearing as an aspiring singer in Begin Again (2013) and a doctor on Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit (2014). Knightley has returned to films of the past playing Joan Clarke in The Imitation Game (2014) and earned her a nomination to the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress She also played the writer named after her in Colette (2018).
