Curtis was born to Carmencita Ojales from Bolinao Pangasinan in Australia and James Ernest Curtis Smith an Australian lawyer, was born on July 25, 1970 in Yarrawonga. Her father married Ojales, a Filipina from Bolinao Pangasinan in 1982. Jasmine's younger sister, also an actor, is her father. The father of the couple had a half sister known as Clare who died in 2007 aged 4 months of cardiovascular disease.
